Las Tunas
The most tourists unknown of all Cuban provinces, Las Tunas province lies in the southeastern part of Cuba , below Camaguey province. Las Tunas is the ninth largest and the tenth most populated province in the island. Most of the stuff the Las Tunas province has to offer wanderers is the wild untouched nature and real Cuban life. The capital city, Las Tunas (called balcony of Eastern Cuba ), has just about 100,000 inhabitants. The Las Tunas city houses are very interestingly built of tiles and artful facades of different styles. The main event that takes place is in June (the ‘Cucalambeana Festival') when most of the Cuban artists, poets and signers come to celebrate and remember El Cucalambe, a famous poet. The Cerro Caismimu, a hunting preserve around 18km outside the city, is worth a visit. The Las Tunas province main economic growth is from sugarcane industry and cattle farming. Cuba 's most modern steel industry is another relevant feature of the province. The city itself is becoming more developed with highways being built to connect this part of Cuba with Havana . Other major cities of Las Tunas province are Puerto Padre discovered in 16 th century whose main street goes straight down to the sea, and Amancio city, known for rum production. The Puerto Padre city is the site of important battles that took place for Cuban independence. Remarkable historic sites related to the war of independence and to national culture are spread all over the eastern province of Las Tunas. Photo of Las Tunas:
